The development of symbolic algebra goes with a fundamentally new ontological status of the objects of analysis. Powers and curves are not coupled anymore with physical interpretations, such as "space" and "dimension". Concepts such as "number" or "curves" no longer have ontological dimensions as they had in the works of the Greek and Arabs.
